During this month, I have dedicated some time to delving into the topic I hinted at in my AI video - To use AI on a vault wide basis without having to send data over to OpenAI.
I have a home server with high end, but still consumer, hardware. I’ve now tested a few models, most notably LLaMA 7B and 13B. The results were subpar compared to OpenAI's GPT-4 and more in line with Davinci-003 and that’s the dilemma. Do you forego your privacy to reap the benefits of a more advanced model?
If you’re reading this, chances are you value your digital privacy more than most, as I do. And giving OpenAI vault wide access is something I am not comfortable doing. It’s far too private, far too personal. But the pace at which alternatives to OpenAI are developing is nothing to scoff at.
Perhaps as early as later this year this will change, I’m excited for it!

📖 Books
I’ve been rereading a lot of Agatha Christie lately. It’s hard to find another author at her level in this particular genre. It had been a while since I read her masterpiece - “And then there were none” and I’m now finishing “The Murder of Roger Ackroyd”. Both masterfully written.
✍️ Content
The Age Of Average - Interesting read on how everything from coffee shops, to buildings, cars, media, and everything in between, looks the same.
Loneliness or solitude? The case for being alone - As someone who spends most days alone, it’s refreshing to see a case that highlights the positive aspects of it.
👨💻 Software
Arc Browser - I’ve had access to it for a long time now. I’ve gone back and forth between it and Chrome as it’s difficult to deny the muscle memory associated with a conventional browser. But I can now say I am using it more than any other browser and I finally see the appeal. I’ll make a video on it soon. Feel free to reply to this email and ask me for an invite. I have five invites available, so I can only offer it to the first five people who reply.
Thanks for reading :)
